As we expand our operations and scale our technology, we’re seeking a hands-on process development engineer to support the transition from lab to pilot and commercial scale.

Position Overview

We are hiring a full-time, in-person R&D Chemical Engineer with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering to join our R&D team in Lawrence, Kansas. This entry-level role is ideal for recent graduates who are excited to apply their technical skills in both process modeling and laboratory experimentation.

You’ll contribute directly to the design and optimization of Icorium’s core separation technology—supporting everything from benchtop testing to pilot system development. This is a great opportunity to be part of a mission-driven startup working on real-world climate solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine process simulations using Aspen Plus, MATLAB, and Python
  • Plan and conduct lab-scale experiments focused on refrigerant separation
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental and modeling data
  • Collaborate with the R&D and engineering teams to optimize process performance
  • Support techno-economic evaluations and scale-up strategies
  • Document procedures and findings in detailed technical reports
  • Ensure safe, clean, and organized operation of laboratory and testing equipment

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (recent graduates encouraged to apply)
  • Strong academic foundation in thermodynamics, mass transfer, and chemical separations
  • Familiarity with process simulation tools such as Aspen Plus, MATLAB, or Python
  • Prior lab or research experience is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Must be available to work full-time and in-person at our Lawrence, KS facility
  • Eagerness to work in a collaborative, fast-paced startup environment
